Thank you to our business partners:
What is the Business Partners Program? The Business Partners Program, (formerly known as the as the 1% for Land Conservation Program) began in August 1998. It consists of local businesses collecting or donating a percentage of their sales, commissions, or services for open land protection in Grand County. Other businesses support the Business Partners Program by making a monthly donation through the use of a coupon book, by rounding up sales to the nearest dollar, or by discounting or donating materials used to promote the Business Partners Program. How is the money used? The voluntary contribution is donated to the Middle Park Land Trust, a local non-profit Land Trust. All funds go directly into land conservation efforts. The donations are used to pay operating expenses, help landowners with the transaction costs for Conservation Easements, and public education on the benefits of land conservation. Why protect open space? Open space enriches our quality of life and protects landscapes, bringing tourism and residents to Grand County. Everyone benefits when development and open space preservation are balanced. Tourism remains strong, providing the economic benefit necessary for business in Grand County to prosper. There are also benefits to developers, as land adjacent to preserved open space is often more desirable to home buyers. How does the Business Partners Program work? Either the customer or the business makes a voluntary tax-deductible donation for land conservation in Grand County. The donation is figured on the subtotal (before tax). Service businesses list the donation on an invoice as a separate item that does not have to be paid if the customer chooses not to. Some business choose to make the donation themselves, instead of collecting it from their customers. Either way, whoever makes the donation is entitled to the tax deduction. Remember, this program is very flexible and easy for your business to participate in. Just tell us how you want to contribute and we can make it work. Any expenses the business incurs related to this program, such as credit card discounts or accounting fees, are also tax deductible. What's in it for businesses? Businesses that show their support for land conservation receive free semi-annual advertising, good community publicity and membership in the Middle Park Land Trust, and the satisfaction of helping preserve the natural resources of Grand County. Okay, I’m interested, what do I do now? Just click here, complete the enrollment form and return it to the Middle Park Land Trust office by fax or mail. What happens if I have questions or problems?
