2008 Staff:
Billy Sumerlin, Adam Cwiklin, and Angela McCormick

Billy Sumerlin is our Executive Director. Billy is a long time Grand County resident with a wide and varied background in natural resources, forestry and production agriculture. His experience in leading and managing organizations, along with grant writing, budgeting, public outreach and education and public speaking will be invaluable in helping Middle Park Land trust achieve the goals it has set out for itself as it enters its second decade.

Adam Cwiklin is the Land Conservation Specialist. He has lived in Grand County for 15 years and has a strong background in land conservation, natural resources and local issues. He has a BS in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State. He is currently working on his master's degree in Environmental Policy and Management at Denver University. Adam worked with the land trust previously as the development coordinator.

Angela McCormick was an MPLT volunteer for a few years before becoming the Administrative Assistant. She has a degree in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Conservation Biology from Prescott College in Arizona. She and her family live in Tabernash.

2008 Board of Directors:
 
Elisha Bartlett, Mike Braddy, Mike Dailey, Deborah Froeb, Roger Hedlund, Charlene Heins, Tim Hodsdon, Tara Jamison, Dave Lively, Alice Nordloh, John Raney, Judi Servoss, Erik Swanson, and Jean Townsend.

Elisha Bartlett graduated from CU in December 2001 with a degree in Environmental Studies and Geography. She is currently employed as a surveyor and happy to call Grand County home.

Mike Braddy (President) is a long time Colorado resident who grew up on a horse breeding and training operation near Greeley. Mike retired in 1997 from US West as a Finance Director and moved to Grand County full-time in August, 2000.   

Mike Dailey is a part-time resident of the county since 2002.  Mike is Senior Vice President of MVG Development and has worked in real estate for close to 15 years.  Part of his career was working for the Trust for Public Land as a Real Estate Manager.  He is married with two kids.

Deborah Froeb (Vice-President) has been a part time resident of the county for over 20 years.  After a successful 20 year career in institutional real estate in Denver, Deb recently joined The Nature Conservancy as its Director of Land Conservation and Finance.  She has been an active Board Member for over four years, serving as Vice President for three of those years. Her primary focus on the Board has been on fundraising and major donor activities. 

Roger Hedlund is a full time Fraser resident and co-owner of Home James Transportation. A very active member of the community and a strong supporter of land conservancy, he is also married to one of MPLT's former Presidents, Michelle Murray Hedlund.

Charlene Heins (treasurer) grew up on a cattle ranch on the Eastern Plains of Colorado. She eventually became a CPA, starting her own firm in Michigan. Charlene eventually sold her business and her husband retired, bringing them to the Fraser Valley in 2005.

Tara Jamison is a retired educator who moved to Fraser full-time in 2001 and joined the Grand County Wilderness Group as well as MPLT. Before moving here, she was involved with 2 South Jefferson County Open Space Projects and she served on the Jeffco Open Space Advisory Committee from 1976-1980. She also served on the Colorado Council of Churches Environmental Committee.

Dave Lively returned to the Grand Lake area in 2001 as a full-time resident, retiring from a career in the equipment rental industry.  A descendent of a family which homesteaded here in 1896, Dave is deeply involved in Grand County historical preservation.

Alice Nordloh (secretary) is a Grand County native who grew up in Grand Lake. She married Gary Nordloh and they lived throughout the Rocky Mountain Region for 35 years, but always considered Grand County their home. In 1995, Alice & Gary returned to Grand County, purchased the Snider Ranch in Granby and are now full time ranchers.

John Raney has been a full-time resident of Grand Lake for thirteen years.  He has had many careers including the F.B.I., college professor, college dean of instruction, corporate manager, and ski instructor.  He is an active member of the Colorado Bar and is currently the manager of the ski school at SolVista Basin at Granby Ranch.

Judi Servoss has been a resident of Fraser since 1998, and a member of the Land Trust since 2001. She retired as Vice President of Public Relations for cable company, MediaOne Group, and previously for U S West. In addition to her work as Board Liaison, she works with Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies.

Erik Swanson is a part-time resident and has been a member since 1999.  Erik has worked in land conservation and real estate for approximately 15 years.  Erik spent much of his youth in Ground County.

Jean Townsend, president of Coley/Forrest, is a consulting economist with more than 25 years of experience. She specializes in public finance, economic development, real estate and financial feasibility analyses. In addition to serving on the Middle Park Land Trust board, Jean is a founder and volunteer manager of the Colorado Colfax Marathon.  She and her husband reside in both Fraser and Denver.

2008 Advisory Board:

Joan Mason, Lark McCoy, Ken Mirr, Dawn Packard, Ray Printz, Robert Rich
and Mike Thompson.

The Advisory Board was created in 2003 to offer advice and assistance to the Middle Park Land Trust Board of Directors. This allows individuals to become more closely involved with the current Board of Directors without carrying the full responsibilities associated with full Board Membership.

Darrell Brown is a former President of the Board of Directors. Currently, Darrell is a Denver real estate attorney and investor who has owned a second home in Grand County for over 20 years.  He was the founder of the outdoor hockey rink on County Road 8, and his ties run deep in out community as his youth was spent on the Winter Park Junior Ski Patrol, as well as climbing and kayaking in the area.   

Robert Drickey is a physician. Before moving with his wife to Grand County, Bob was an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado. He has also been the Director of the Peace Corps for both Costa Rica and Ecuador.

Dede Fay is a former Board Vice-President and has lived in Grand County since 1988. Dede has worked in a variety of sales positions in the resort industry and now represents Grand County doing sales for the Tourism Board. Her contracting business, Walden Hollow Enterprises, is a participant in the Business Partner Program. Dede has served on a variety of boards in the area and is committed to preserving the special quality of Grand County.

Michele Murray Hedlund is a former President of the Board of Directors. Michele is a life long Colorado native who grew up skiing at Winter Park Resort. She owns a health food store and is committed to open space preservation, animal welfare and social justice issues.

Joan Mason is President of The Mason Group, a professional fundraising business. Joan has worked with numerous land trusts in raising money (Mesa, Wyoming Stockgrowers).  She has also raised money for the Hal O’Leary Endowment at the National Sports Center for the Disabled and conducts national trainings on how to raise money.  Named the Fund Raiser of the Year in Colorado last year, Joan has been a second home owner Grand County for many years.

Lark McCoy has owned a second home in Grand County since 1995. She and her husband donated a conservation easement to the Middle Park Land Trust in 2003. Committed to land conservation and education, Lark volunteers for the Land Trust as a grant researcher. 

Ken Mirr is the owner of Mirr Ranch Group, a brokerage company dealing in fine farms and ranches of the West. Ken owns a small ranch in Grand County and is a board member of the Colorado Coalition of Land Trusts.

Dawn Packard is the Executive Director of the Headwater Trails Alliance. She is also a former Board Member. Dawn serves as an important communications link between MPLT and HTA.

Ray Printz is the former director of the Jefferson County Open Space Program.

Robert Rich is a co-owner of vineyards in California, France and Australia, as well as a cattle and potato farm in Idaho. A retired partner from a Denver law firm, Robert owns a second home here in Grand County. His many community contributions include serving as Trustee and Secretary of the Denver Art Museum, Director and Vice-President of the Anschutz Family Foundation. He also is on the Advisory Board of the Denver World Affairs Council as well as MPLT. Formerly, he was founding Director of the Denver International Film Festival and served as Secretary of the Alliance Francaise.

Mike Thompson is also a former Board President. A 4th generation rancher and conservation easement donor, Mike works for the East Grand School District.
